HOW WE ARE MAKING OUR GYM SAFE FOR YOU

We’ve missed you and we’re looking forward to welcoming you back, so we can continue to support your health and fitness journey.

We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to create a safe environment for you to visit and we’ve made some changes to how we do things. Everyone will have a part to play in keeping our gym safe, and we’ll be asking you follow a few rules too.

What we are doing to keep you safe

Keeping you safe and healthy is our number one priority. That's why we're introducing new cleaning procedures and social distancing measures, which have been guided by the experts at UK Active, the UK government and Public Health England, Wales and Scotland and the Charity's infection prevention team.

Temperature checks and cleanliness.

We’ll be checking everyone’s temperature on arrival and if anyone has a high temperature, they won’t be able to enter the gym. You must sanitise your hands at reception and there are additional hand sanitiser units, and wipe pods, positioned at key areas throughout the gym.

Cleaning and disinfecting.

Gym sessions will be 1hr15min each session followed by a closure of the gym and a 15 minute clean where we will sanitise gym equipment ready for the next session All staff have had cleaning training and they’ll be using a two-stage cleaning process including a detergent, followed by a disinfectant.

Social distancing.

To adhere to social distancing guidelines we have massively reduced our maximum capacity to 25 people per gym session, and 6 people per fitness class. This ensure that we are well within the maximum of 1 person per 100 sqft of usable space. We have also installed protective shields between some of our equipment.

Changes to classes.

We’re running smaller classes to keep everyone safe and the classes will be shorter than usual (30 mins instead of 45 mins) to make sure we have enough time to clean the studio. We’re only running certain classes to ensure social distancing – be sure to check our updated timetable.

Ventilation.

We will be keeping our shutters and windows open to ensure fresh air within the premises.

How you can keep yourself and others safe

To keep our gyms as safe and clean as possible, we need your help too. We ask that you follow a few simple rules when you visit our gym.

Before coming to the gym

Stay home if you’re unwell.

Please don’t come to the gym if you feel sick or have COVID-19 symptoms.

Bring your own.

As the water fountain is not in use you can either purchase a bottle of water from us, or you can bring a full bottle of water with you. If you’re doing Yoga or Pilates, or any mat based classes, please bring your own mat. If you are unsure which classes require a mat, please call us. Only bring a towel if you’re showering, and don’t bring a sweat towel.

Arrive ready to work out.

Please come in your workout gear to avoiding using the changing rooms. We advise against wearing face masks as these can hinder your breathing while exercising, and gloves aren’t recommended as they can’t easily be cleaned – please use the hand sanitiser provided instead.

Travel light.

We are advising that you do not use the lockers as these are difficult to keep clean and sanitised, so please think about how much you’re bringing with you.

Ventilation.

We are in the process of upgrading our ventilation to ensure that the gym is constantly filled with fresh air, but for now we will be opening our shutter to increase fresh air within the premises to reach the required ventilation flow rate levels.

While you're at the gym

Be prepared to have your temperature taken.

On arrival, we’ll check your temperature with a forehead thermometer. Anyone with a high temperature won’t be able to use the gym.

Please queue safely.

When arriving, please form a 1 metre socially distanced queue, along the side of the building, down the alleyway, or alternatively, wait either in your car or away from the premises until you see the queue reduce.

Use hand sanitising stations.

You’ll find one before you enter the main gym floor and throughout the gym. Make sure you follow proper handwashing if you use the changing rooms.

Check-in at reception if you’re doing a class.

Try to arrive no more than 5 minutes early and follow the social distancing rules while you’re waiting for the class. When it’s over, please leave the studio as quickly as possible via the fire door in the studio.

Follow social distancing guidelines.

Try to stay at least 2 metres from others as much as possible.

Clean your equipment and mats.

You must wipe down any machine / or station you will be using before and after use with the wipe pods around the gym or the sanitiser spray and blue roll. If you are not following this rule, you may be asked to leave and / or have your membership revoked. It is important that we all play our part in ensuring everyone’s safety.

Respect our time windows.

From when we open every morning we will have 1hr15min time slots followed by the gym closing for 15 minutes to allow our staff to clean and sanitise the gym before the next 1hr15min session begins. Please respect this and leave no later than 1hr15min after training. These measures will not be forever, and in time sessions will inevitably go back to normal, but for now these measures are needed to ensure that we do not exceed the legal capacity.

Changing rooms and showers.

We encourage all members to avoid using the changing rooms and showers if possible, but we understand that this is not always possible. If you must use the showers / changing rooms, please try to be as quick as you can and please wash your hands thoroughly.
